MAGIC OF THE WORLD
The world of Keridwyn is threaded together by ancient currents of magical energy older than civilization itself. Most mortals only touch these forces indirectly through spells, rituals, and Soulshards, yet there are places where the barriers between worlds grow thin and raw magic spills freely into reality.
These legendary locations have become the subject of myths, wars, pilgrimages, and forbidden expeditions. Many scholars debate whether they truly exist at all, while others devote their entire lives to searching for them. Entire kingdoms have risen chasing rumors of their power.
“Magic is not created. It is uncovered.”
The World Tree
The World Tree is said to be the very first living thing to take root when the world was formed. Ancient beyond comprehension, its branches are believed to stretch farther than mountains while its roots descend deep into the hidden places beneath reality itself.
Unlike ordinary forests, the lands surrounding the World Tree never fully experience winter. Leaves remain lush and vibrant through every season, and creatures nearby are said to possess unnatural awareness and intelligence.
Those who stand beneath its canopy describe an overwhelming sensation of connection — not merely to nature, but to every living creature in existence. Legends claim that one can hear distant thoughts, understand forgotten languages, or instinctively grasp knowledge they never learned while within its presence.
Many scholars believe animals retain a faint spiritual link to the World Tree throughout their lives. This bond supposedly grants newborn creatures instinctive understanding of survival, migration, hunting, and approaching natural disasters without ever being taught.
Some myths go further still, claiming the World Tree remembers every event that has ever happened beneath the sky.
The Falls of Life
Somewhere hidden within the endless oceans lies one of the oldest mysteries in recorded history — a place sailors call the Falls of Life.
According to legend, the sea suddenly ceases its natural movement there, cascading downward into a colossal abyss as if the water itself pours over the edge of the world. At the center is said to stand an invisible pillar reaching from the depths to the heavens, dividing the waters around it.
Those few who claim to have witnessed the Falls describe hearing countless whispers carried within the crashing water. Others speak of seeing ghostly figures drifting beneath the surface.
Legends insist that anyone capable of surviving the descent to the ocean floor will gain mastery over souls themselves — the power to restore life to the dead, communicate with spirits, or reshape the essence of living beings.
Whether these stories are truth or madness remains unknown. Most ships searching for the Falls never return.
The Floating Isles
Lost high above the clouds drift the Floating Isles, a moving paradise believed to be home to the Angels and other radiant beings.
The islands endlessly travel across the sky, slowly following the path of the sun as though pulled by celestial forces. Their magic keeps them suspended impossibly high above the world below.
Ancient stories describe waterfalls that pour from the islands into open sky, forests filled with silver fruit, and gardens untouched by disease or decay.
The Isles are said to reveal themselves only to those of exceptional honor, strength, or purity of spirit. Even then, travelers rarely find them intentionally. Most accounts involve wounded heroes, dying wanderers, or pilgrims who stumble upon the Isles during moments of desperation.
Some believe time itself flows differently there. A visitor may spend what feels like weeks among the clouds only to discover years have passed below.
Spirit Mountain
Spirit Mountain is believed to be the source of limitless raw magical energy. Most legends describe it as a colossal volcanic peak whose core burns not with ordinary magma, but with condensed magical essence powerful enough to reshape the world itself.
Its existence has driven countless rulers, mages, and conquerors into obsession. Entire expeditions have vanished searching volcanic regions believed to contain its hidden entrance.
Some stories claim those who reach the heart of Spirit Mountain become capable of fueling spells without limit, empowering rituals beyond imagination, or forging weapons capable of destroying kingdoms.
Others warn that the mountain does not grant power freely. The deeper one travels, the more reality itself begins to unravel around them. Time distorts. Flesh mutates. Thoughts become unstable.
Whether these explorers perished or transcended mortality entirely remains unknown.
The Tunnels of Time
The Tunnels of Time are described as an endless labyrinth of branching stone corridors existing somewhere outside normal reality.
Every path reveals visions from different moments in history — forgotten wars, future disasters, ancient civilizations, and lives not yet lived. Travelers walking these tunnels often lose all sense of direction as the passages divide infinitely into countless possibilities.
Some scholars believe the tunnels do not merely show the past and future, but alternate outcomes that could have happened under different circumstances.
The greatest danger lies in lingering too long within a vision. Those who become emotionally consumed by what they witness may be drawn into the scene itself, vanishing from the present entirely.
Legends speak of travelers returning decades older after being lost only a few hours, while others emerge claiming they witnessed the end of the world.
Orbs of Power
Before the shaping of the world was complete, the Twelve Titans each left behind a fragment of their own essence. These remnants became known as the Orbs of Power.
Every Orb embodies absolute dominion over a single primordial element or force. In the hands of a worthy wielder, an Orb grants authority capable of altering landscapes, controlling weather, extinguishing armies, or reshaping the laws of nature themselves.
The Orbs possess a strange awareness. They are known to vanish, relocate, or hide for centuries before resurfacing before individuals deemed worthy — or dangerous — enough to wield them.
Entire wars have been fought over rumors of an Orb’s location. Kingdoms have collapsed after attempting to harness their power. Historians agree that more devastation has been caused by the Orbs than by any conventional army in recorded history.
Many scholars believe the Orbs intentionally manipulate mortal ambition, ensuring conflict follows wherever they appear.
Only a handful of confirmed sightings exist in modern history, and most ended in catastrophe.
